Sanding

In the premium car sector, sanding is carried out as standard after the filler coat and, at the customer’s request, after the first clear coat. Due to the health risks involved, this process requires a significant investment of time and personnel. In response to the constantly increasing quality and quantity demands in the automotive industry, we have developed a system that fully automates this production process.

A special application head continuously measures the actual force and automatically compensates for any stroke differences by adjusting the force. This is necessary to ensure consistent sanding behaviour and consistent sanding results on the car body. In addition, specially developed changing stations are used, which automatically change the sanding disc from the robot and also provide the respective grain size of the sandpaper depending on the grinding process, i.e. filler or clear coat.

Our sanding systems have already proven themselves in a wide variety of projects, including at the VW plant in Mosel and at the Bentley car manufacturer in Crewe.
