Black Roof Application

Vehicle manufacturers rely on a wide range of design elements to give their models a distinctive character. Volkswagen, for example, uses a black roof as a design feature on its electric models. To ensure that such design accents can be reliably implemented in series production, a process-reliable black roof application is required. Our plant technology takes care of the necessary surface preparation and can be seamlessly integrated into existing production lines.

Cleaning is carried out using a feather duster made from genuine emu feathers, which efficiently and gently remove even the finest particles. The surface, which has already been coated with clear lacquer, is then reactivated using a specially developed flaming tool to create optimum adhesion conditions for the subsequent steps in the painting process.

The first system was installed at Volkswagen’s Mosel plant in 2018, followed by another successful installation at Volkswagen Emden.
